Walk like Jesus walked…Live in Peace and Harmony!
My dear members, today, people all around the world, full of faith and compassion celebrate the joyous occasion of Christmas. We are celebrating the birth of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ who gave his life so that we might live. Christians recognize him as the True and Living Saviour who has brought great joy to all people and gave us the assurance in His word, that he will never leave us nor forsake us, but that he will be with us to the end.
It is important therefore, for us to utilize this special time of year to reflect, revisit, assess and redirect our thoughts on Jesus Christ and his word. We must evaluate our actions thoughts and deeds. Is it in line with the life that Jesus lived? Do we forgive and forget? Do we embrace everyone in love? Are we our Brother’s Keeper? John 13:35 says ‘By this shall all men know that ye are My disciples, if ye have love one to another’.
Christmas is a time to put aside all differences and to reach out to our fellowman in a spirit of love and forgiveness. It is a time of sharing with the less fortunate. It is a time to spread joy, peace and forgiveness. More importantly however, the joy, peace and forgiveness must be sustained in order for us to change the world and bring it to a place of tranquil and healing that we need so desperately.
John 10:10 says ‘The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly’. Let us follow Christ so that we will counter the attacks of the enemy and enjoy the fullness of life.
Isaiah 45:5 clarifies Jesus’ words when it said “ I am the LORD, and there is none else, there is no God beside me: I girded thee, though thou hast not known me’ This is a wonderful word and we can be assured that the Lord will continue to gird us as we follow Him. Let us not be caught up into the celebrations, decorations and shopping and lose focus of the true meaning of what it is really about – The Birth of Jesus and what it means for the world. We must remember to keep focus on the glory that His birth has brought to us.
We must remember as well that each of us has a diving calling to contribute to the happiness of this world and to encourage love and harmony regardless of our various cultures. As we invite persons to our homes at Christmas, let us also open the inner parts of our hearts to those in need and allow the message of Christmas to motivate us to put the doctrine of true love and compassion to unite our friends and families.
Members, some may be hurting, some disadvantaged, some hungry, some victimized! I urge us all to join the rest of the international community and engage in the sharing of genuine love, peace and goodwill to all men. Christmas provides us with the opportunity to bring out the best in us and to give true meaning and action to the message of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ by the way we treat with each other. Let us do good to them that hurt us and endeavour to walk as Jesus walked. It is the best way to achieve the fullness of His abundant blessing.
May you, my dear members and the national community, enjoy the fullness of the Lord’s blessings today, in 2015 and throughout your lives! Accept my sincerest love and appreciation for all that you have contributed to the growth and success of our League and more importantly, the growth and development of this wonderful Credit Union Movement.
Merry Christmas and Happy 2015 to all! God bless you richly!
